Challa Hospital

Challa Nursing home was started in 1984 and has successfully treated over 50,000 in patients.Over the years We have performed more than 25,000 surgeries in neuro surgery, urology, plastic surgery, surgical oncology, andrology, surgical, gastroenterology (laparoscopic), orthopedics, obstetric & gynecology, general surgery, ENT and ophthalmology. Having run the nursing home all these years we have realized that a slot for an affordable multi specialty hospital whose pricing would be at least 50% less than in a corporate hospital was lacking in the city, as the middle class is unable to afford the cost of health care at that level. With the intention of filling this slot we have now gone for an expansion of Challa nursing home re-naming it as Challa Hospital. Challa Hospital has now been expanded with the addition of 25000sq.feet of built up area to the already existing 20,000Sq.feet, now making it a total of 45,000Sq.feet of built up area to accommodate 100 beds.

In this additional new space, wehave started (a) 5 new state-of-the-art operating theaters, (b) 10 bedded intensive care unit, (c) 8 bedded post operative unit, (d) NICU, (e) Blood Bank, (f) Haemo Dialysis, (g) Dental Care.

The new operation theaters have state-of-the-art lighting system from hanulux with a light intensity of 3,20,000 lux which is the brightest lighting system in the world making it possible to do cardiac; neuro and surgical oncological work very comfortably. We have improved, valley lab “Force Fx” diathermies for the O.T‘s as well as state-of-the art anesthesia machines with anesthesia Ventilators from DATEX OHMEDA. The operating tables are all electrically operated. The Datex Ohmeda monitoring systems have the following parameters for the safe conduction of surgeries. E.C.G. with ST Segment analysis, non invasive blood pressure monitoring,2 channel invasive blood pressure monitoring, two temperature channels, anaesthesia gas monitoring module, end tidal carbon dioxide module neuromuscular module and spirometry module.

We have Siemens Siremobile 2000 image intensifier “C” arm imported from Germany for orthopedics and for use by other specialists, a Zesis operating microscope with CCD attachment for Micro surgical operative work is available.

The various scopes and equipment available in operating theaters and other facilities department wise are as follows:

UROLOGY: Adult and paediatric cystoscope and urteroscope Equipment for performing transurethral resection of the prostate, optical ureterotomy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and U.R.S.L. All urological surgeries can be performed at our hospital.

NEPHROLOGY: Dialysis unit is now open and we are performing over 200 dialysis per month.

ADROLOGY: A varied range of surgeries for impotence and sterility have been performed including prosthetic implants, we have also conducted sex change operations in the hospital.

ORTHOPAEDICS: WE have arthroscope for knee, hip, elbow and shoulder. We have arthroscopes from 2mm onwards; operative instrumentation for the arthroscopie is also available. All the instrumentation required for orthopaedic surgeries like hip and knee replacement intrameduallary nail and S.P. nail and plate fixation and compression plate fixation is available. We have percutaneous discoidectomy equipment imported from Germany, with an angulated scope for operative surgery on the spine. We do all orthopedic operations regularly.

GYNAECOLOGY AND OBSTETRICS: Qualified obstetricians provide 24 hours obstetric care. WE have painless delivery facility available (epidural anesthesia) under the supervision of anesthesiologists, round the clock. Anesthesiologists are available to attend to emergencies in the hospital 24 hours. We have an entire range of Laparoscopy equipment to conduct Laparoscopic Hysterectomies cystectomics Adhesiolysis PCOD etc.. , We have all the facilities to investigate infertile couples. We have 0 and 30 degree hysteroscopes with equipment for Endometrial Ablation.

ENT: Fiberoptic Brochoscope and oesophagoscope are available --- Rigid bronchoscope and oesophagoscopes from 2mm onwards are available for removing of foreign bodies and Biopsy. 0 and 30 degree sinuscope with CCD and operative equipment for the available for conducting FESS operations etc., on the sinuses and nose.

GASTROENTEROLOGY : WE have Video gastroscope, and colonoscope with equipment for sclerosing and biopsy facilities.

SURGICAL GASTROENTEROLOGY: We are doing Laparoscopic cholecystectomies and Appendicectomies. We have an entire range of laparoscopic equipment for performing all Laparoscopic procedures.

OPHTHLMOLOGY: We do intraocular Lens implants for cataracts.

PLASTIC SURGERY: We take care of burns cases, reconstructions of Lip, palate and hand etc., plastic surgeries for nose and chin implants are performed. Breast implants and reductions are being done. We are also performing abdominoplasty and liposuctions.

NEUROSURGERY, SURGICAL ONCOLGY AND PAEDIATRIC SURGERY: As all the theaters and post surgical units are fully equipped, any type of case of the above department can be performed in the HOSPITAL.

I.C.U. AND POST OPERATIVE UNITS: We have a state-of-the-art comprehensive monitoring system with a 16 channel central station to provide monitoring of all the parameters of the human system. The above units are under the care of experienced Anaesthesiolgist. An Anaesthesiolgist is available in the units all round the clock. Other than the routine monitors already mentioned we have BIS module Gastric tonometry module Metabolic module spirometry EEG and neuromuscular module in I.C.U.

MEDICO LEGAL CASES: Road Traffic accidents, head injuries, poisoning cases, snake bites and burns will be accepted all round the clock.

We have constructed 42 new rooms on the Third and Fourth floors. The 3rd floor has 21 centrally Air conditioned rooms with a TV, fridge and telephone. The Fourth floor has 21 deluxe rooms. The size décor and the furniture of the room have been done very taste fully, with the bathroom having segregated wet and dry areas.

The First floor rooms have been converted into sharing rooms with 2 beds per room.

We have a 24 hour lab X ray E.C.G. and C.T.Scan. Color Doppler, Tread mill and ultra sound facilities available in the Hospital.

PAEDIATRICS: We have 10bedded neonatal intensive care unit to look after premature babies. Incubators, open care units and photos therapy units are available. A neonatal Ventilator is soon to be added.

All the medical departments are well represented by the concerned specialists in the hospital cardiology. Neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, endocrinology, Dermatology, psychiatry, general medicine, General Surgery and paediatrics.
